2) John Cena Almost Turned Heel
John Cena revealed on his live podcast appearance with Chris Jericho that there were some plans for him to turn heel at one point during his feud with the Rock.
Cena was so excited about the idea that he had a bunch of gear made for his new character.
According to a 2011 article from Wrestling INC, WWE filed for the trademark ‘Fear My Name’. Guess what showed up on an episode of Total Divas? You guessed it, Cena wearing trunks that said: ‘Fear My Name’:
It looks like there really were some plans to turn Cena heel but they never came to fruition.
1) Chris Jericho vs Mickey Rourke
You might remember the feud that Chris Jericho and Mickey Rourke had in 2009. Rourke was the star of the 2008 film: ‘The Wrestler’ that gained critical acclaim.
Rourke and Jericho were apparently supposed to wrestle a match against one another. Fans saw Rourke call out Jericho on the Screen Actors Guild Red Carpet. The only problem was that this was 3 weeks earlier than he was supposed to according to Jericho:
“The original plan was to work with Mickey Rourke in a singles match, but he was so excited about it [that] he went and said something about it at the Screen Actors Guild Red Carpet. My cousin texted me saying, ‘Are you wrestling Mickey Rourke? He just challenged you on the red carpet.’ This was like 3 weeks before the Oscars. We were going to announce it after the Oscars, but once he said it, his people were mortified and thought it might hurt his chances of winning, so he had to pull out and he didn’t even win the Oscar so it was a bit of a drag. We even already started going in that direction and then he said ‘no.’
Instead, Jericho defeated Ricky Steamboat, Roddy Piper, and Jimmy Snuka at Wrestlemania XXV. A singles match between Jericho and Rourke could have been fun or a complete disaster.
