7 WWE Stars Who Competed In The Olympics

The Olympic Games kick off this week in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The WWE is keeping with the times and has released a video that shows us 7 WWE stars that actually have competed in the Olympic Games. Some of them you already know like Kurt Angle! Some might even surprise you. Check out the summary below!

-Bad News Brown wrestled in the WWE from 1988-1990. He was known as a legit tough guy in and out of the ring. Before his wrestling career he previously won a bronze medal in Heavyweight Judo at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal.

-Ken Patera was the second ever Intercontinental Champion and wrestled in the WWE in the late 70’s and 80’s. He is also one of the names suing the WWE right now for head injuries. Patera competed in the 1972 Munich games for the United States as a Weightlifter but failed to medal at the games.

-Mark Henry has been with the WWE since 1996. He is a former World Heavyweight Champion, ECW Champion and European Champion with the company. Henry also competed in the 1992 and 1996 Olympic Games in Weightlifting. He was the captain of the 1996 United States Olympic Weightlifting team but an injury forced him out of medal contention. He made his WWE debut a couple months later at Summerslam.

-Danny Hodge is a name you might not know! He placed 5th in 1952 and won the silver medal in 1956 in Australia.

-Mad Dog Vachon was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2010. He competed in the 1948 Olympic Games in London and finished 5th at the age of 18.

-Chad Gable just got called up to WWE’s Main roster as a member of the tag team: American Alpha. Gable represented the United States at the 2012 Olympics in Greco-Roman wrestling but failed to medal.

-Kurt Angle is the only WWE star to win gold at the Olympics. Angle won the gold for the United States at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. He also did it with a BROKEN FREAKIN’ NECK!
