Bret Hart Has Some Harsh Criticism For Triple H and WrestleMania 32

Bret Hart has the reputation to speak his mind when it comes to today’s WWE product. Some fans like that he is so honest about today’s product. Others think that Bret is still bitter over how the WWE treated him back in the day. In a recent interview with Notts TV, Bret Hart said that he never really saw any genius in Triple H. He also said that there was no real wrestling at this years WrestleMania.

Here is what he said:

“I’m always happy to be proven wrong, but I’ve never seen any real genius come from Triple H yet. I sound like I’m always knocking him, but it seems like he’s quick to push the great wrestling to the side and push the bodies, guys who have [good] physiques, all the time. They wonder why CM Punk quit and they wonder why Daniel Bryan got hurt. It’s because they squeeze so much out of those guys. I’m just calling it the way it is. Triple H is a former bodybuilder. He’s all about bodies. He thought that Hulk Hogan was the greatest wrestler in the world. They think Ultimate Warrior was the greatest wrestler in the world because that’s what they’re attracted to, but he’s not really a wrestling fan like I grew up. I was a wrestling fan. I had wrestling in my blood. All the way through, I was a wrestling fan. I loved great wrestling. Like this year’s WrestleMania, there was no great wrestling on the card. All the great wrestling was two days before in the NXT [TakeOver: Dallas] show with [Shinsuke] Nakamura and Sami Zayn and [Asuka], whatever her name is, the Japanese girl, that wrestled Bayley. That’s what WrestleMania is all about. This year at WrestleMania, I thought it was absent on the bill. There was no wrestling on the card” (Source: Notts TV, H/T WrestlingInc).

I am not sure if I agree with Bret on this one. We have seen through NXT that Triple H has been pushing talent, regardless of their body type. Kevin Owens, Samoa Joe, Sami Zayn all immediately come to mind. I usually agree with Bret’s criticism but I can’t on this one!

Would love to hear peoples thoughts on Bret’s comments. Is he off base or is he on to something?

  1. I agree with him in the fact that HHH to me is overrated. Nxt dallas was far and away better than mania. I there was very little wrrstling at mania. HHH isnt afraid to put these ypung guys over i have to give him cred for that. Bret cant be objective about HHH that is?clear. He is still my fav all time

  2. Wrestlemania was a variety show full of reality tv stars and cameos. It happened to feature a few good wrestlers, but most of those matches were low rent Cirque du Soleil acrobatic spot-fests. Plenty of great talent wasted in high risk cartoon acts. Hart likes a lot of the talent and he is right, they aren’t actually putting on wrestling matches.

I must admit I am getting a little tired of Bret complaining about everything. He is coming off as very bitter and the wrestlers can’t help what “creative” does with them.
