John Cena has been on top of WWE for more than 15 years now. Like in many other professions, to get to the top, you might have to make some enemies along the way. It is clear throughout this list that Cena has made a number of enemies. Here is a list of former WWE stars who HATE John Cena.
6) Wade Barrett
Many fans are in agreement that the Nexus should have had a much better fate in WWE. One of the group’s biggest rivals was John Cena and he gets a lot of blame for the burial of the group.
Wade Barrett was interviewed back in 2014 by DNA India. During the interview, Barrett didn’t hold back his dislike for Cena:
“He has been the face for ten years, and he’s really good at what he does. But everyone knows that I don’t like John Cena, and he doesn’t like me either. You’re right, he does get booed by a lot of fans, lot of people don’t like him. But he sells a lot more t-shirts and other merchandise than anyone else. So there are a lot of people out there who like him too. Either way everyone has an opinion about him, I respect that. Personally I don’t like him and he doesn’t like me, we are not friends”
It is clear that there is some animosity between Cena and Barrett over the Nexus angle.
5) Tyler Reks
You might remember the name: Tyler Reks, who had a brief cup of coffee with WWE from 2009 until 2012 on ECW and Smackdown.
In an interview with Wrestling Inc, Reks tells the story of John Cena getting mad at him for using the ‘Burning Hammer’ finishing move. A move that Cena felt like was too close to the ‘Attitude Adjustment’ move that he is known for:
“I used it at Bragging Rights 2010 and John was literally across the ring from me when I hit Santino Marella with it and never said anything to me then. I’d been using it for 8 months on Superstars and everything before all this. I come backstage happy after a good match with Eddie all excited and John grabs me in front of everyone and says, “what do you think you’re doing? I thought I told you to get a new finisher.” I said, “yeah, I thought you were joking John. We hit it wrong last night. I’m really sorry.” He started yelling at me asking who gave me permission to use that. He belittled me, called me an idiot, and asked me if I enjoyed working here. I told him of course I do. He told me, “find another finisher or you’re fired.” I was humiliated, I was a full-grown man, why can’t we talk about this like human beings?”
Reks continued:
“I went outside to cool down, and I was ready to quit, to walk out. That didn’t seem like a healthy workplace environment. I came back in and John Cena was sitting there by the curtain and I figured that I’d cooled off and he’d cooled off so I’ll try to apologize one more time, I said, “John, I’m super sorry about this— I really thought it was just a miscommunication.” He looks over at me and says, “what was there to be miscommunicated? I asked you to stop using that finisher, are you stupid?” He wouldn’t even allow me to apologize. Finally I was just like, yeah, I’ll find another finisher. He and I never really talked after that. That’s the whole story of John Cena making me feel like a six year old boy”
Safe to say Reks isn’t too big of a Cena fan.
