RAW Review (August 14, 2017) RawView

We open the show with a review of last week’s young and the restless…. Oh wait… its actually a recap of Ambrose and Rollins lately. This is really good stuff and the best story going in WWE right now. Ambrose is out to a HOT pop and crowd. Ambrose is out and calls Rollins to the ring and here he comes to BURN IT DOWN! Rollins says he’s done playing games with his heart…. Oh his heart…… oh his heart… quit playing games with his heart. They are really playing with the crowd’s heart here and I’m all for a Rollins/Ambrose tag team title run. They get the crowd back in a frenzy and THERE WE GO SHIELD FIRST BUMP AND WE ARE BACK TOGETHER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!! My goodness yet another tease and they end up fighting each other in the ring just throwing blows. Cesaro and Sheamus out now and they begin beating down Ambrose and Rollins. Ambrose comes in for the save as they beat down Rollins. Cesaro and Sheamus then lay the boots to Ambrose. Rollins now saves Ambrose with a cool high cross body and now AmbRollins cleans the ring. This will be remembered as one of the biggest moments of this generations Raw, and that’s not hyperbole. This crowd is on FIRE singing “you suck” even when Angle’s music isn’t playing. We get our tag match with Sheamus/Cesaro and AmbRollins.

We get Nia Jax and Sasha up next and we have a beach chair ringside. The pop for Sasha was electric and my goodness this crowd is on fire and Raw has been good so far. I love Nia’s offense of just run someone over, much like Strowman. Sasha takes a nasty fall and it doesn’t look good they cut to commercial. We come back to Sasha making a comeback and these bumps are looking rough.  Speaking of Nia then swings Sasha into the barricade pretty rough and she takes a tough looking fall. How cool would a Nia Jax and Asuka match be? I could really dig that. Nia Jax drops the leg on Sasha who has taking an absolute beating here in this match. Nia Jax gets Sasha up in an electric chair drop and Banks tries to lock in the Bank Statement and Jax drops her with a Samoan Drop. Nia Jax drops her with ANOTHER Samoan Drop and Banks rolls out the ring and Nia Jax is getting frustrated. Sasha really being the smart baby face who is having to try and take down the monster heel. This dynamic is really working and this match is FANTASTIC! Banks LOCKS IN THE BANK STATEMENT!!!!!!! Nia just stands up with her however Banks brings her back down and NIA TAPS OUT!!!!

We get Angle back stage looking like a NERD! The Hardys are there and they are being told they won’t get the Revival at Summerslam. This leads the Miz and Miztrouage in and they are upset about Brock. We get a Jason Jordan vs. Miz match announced for tonight. My guess is we are setting up for a Miztourage vs. Hardyz/Jordan match. Try and sprinkle some Hardy dust on Jordan. Angle gets pulled away to tend to Balor and Wyatt and they are beating the hell out of each other backstage.

Elias is more over now than ever in NXT. He’s got real heat every week and it’s a good weekly segment.  He gets interrupted by who else… R-Truth and he’s a GOOD R-Truth. Before Truth can finish his rap Elias starts putting the boots to him. He then drops him with his finisher and then he walks out of the ring with his guitar on his shoulder.

Big Cass is out next with that damn shark cage in the ring. He can’t even talk with the amount of heat he is getting from the Boston crowd. They are now chanting “You Suck” and not the way they chant it to Angle. This crowd is booing the hell out of Big Cass and you know for all the negative talk for Cass he consistently draws good numbers online. Kudos to this Boston crowd tonight a great crowd ALWAYS makes wrestling more enjoyable. Big Cass has been on fire with his promo work since the split from Enzo. Enzo is out now and starts with his comedic shtick and you know it works for him. Big Show is now out and they begin to surround Big Cass and the Good Brothers come out to help Cass beat down Big Show. Big Show’s hand gets smashed in the shark cage and they continue to stop away at his hand. You know Cass and The Good Brothers could be a good fit, more spotlight on Gallows and Anderson and some legitimacy to Cass.

We get Summerslam early with Tozawa and Neville going head to head. Really good match to begin with. Crowd didn’t seem so hot for this match during the introductions. I love the back to back suicide dives from Tozawa pulling out all the stops to win this match. Neville shakes off punches from Tozawa and hits a MONSTER superplex. Tozawa knocks Neville out with an enziguri and goes up top for the senton however Neville gets up. Neville uses the referee to stop Tozawa and Tozawa reverses the rings of Saturn into a pin. Neville misses the red arrow and Tozawa hits the senton for the win. New Cruiserweight champion and the crowd is excited. This may be the best Cruiserweight segment on Raw.

Backstage we have Big Show angry with a broken hand and Enzo telling him to forget about Big Cass. Apparently Enzo isn’t aware Big Show was once shoved off a building. Emma is backstage with Mickie James and she’s complaining that Sasha Banks is in the title match.

Bray Wyatt vs. Finn Balor is up next and I really hope this isn’t cut out of Summerslam. I’m so excited for this matchup. These two are bringing some intensity to the beginning of this match and that running apron kick is absolutely BRUTAL. We come back from commercial break and Wyatt is grounding Balor with a headlock. Wyatt throws one hell of a clothesline. A kip up after Balor hits the bicycle kick would be a nice touch. Wow Wyatt hitting Balor with a diving body block and that looked like it hurt. Cool reversal sequence that leads to Wyatt’s upside down turnbuckle thing. Wyatt ends up outside and Balor hits a running front drop kick. Wyatt drops Balor off the top rope and hits Sister Abigail for the clean victory. After the match Balor is in the corner and Wyatt has a bucket and he dumps a red liquid all over him.

Next up we have Mickie James and Emma and Emma gets the jobber entrance. We get a lock up and some tussling back and forth before Mickie kicks Emma right in the mush. Mickie takes a nasty bump off the top rope to the floor after Emma charges her. Emma now has control and keeps it for a while. I’m going to give a SERIOUSLY unpopular opinion but I don’t see what everyone else does in Emma. Mickie hits a sloppy looking kick for the win.

Boston is sending Jason Jordan straight to BOO CITY. We get some early back and forth between the two. Jason Jordan takes control really early and WHOA we are going for a finisher really quickly. I guess we can thank Big Cass who insisted on saying This Sunday three hundred and forty seven times. Miztourage interferes and starts the beat down on Jordan. Hardys are now out for the save and guess what? It’s the Teddy Long tribute match because we have a TAG TEAM MATCH PLAYA. HOLLA HOLLA. This match now is a six man tag and we start with Matt and Axel. I really praise how Matt Hardy has adjusted not only his character but his move set as he ages. We get Jason Jordan throwing everyone around and charges at Miz however Axel is able to pull Miz to safety as Jordan hits the ring post. My guess is officials back stage are really concerned about Jordan and trying to sprinkle some Hardy dust on him to see if it’ll help. Miz really knows how to get heat from the crowd and Bo Dallas is right there to help suck it all in man. Jeff Hardy finally gets the hot tag and unloads on Bo Dallas, everything breaks down and we have chaos everywhere. Jordan throws Miz across the ring and Jeff hits a Swanton for the win. Good match here for a thrown together six man tag. I am still concerned about Jason Jordan.

This is what we are all waiting for as Angle is out with those poor security guards who will likely be mangled by the wild animals that are about to come to the ring. Heyman is now out and he cuts his pre network special promo and about to deliver a spoiler alert. I love how they are alluding to the UFC rumors in this, it makes it feel more real and unpredictable. Joe now comes out to the ring with about as much intensity as any man has ever had when walking to the ring to face the beast. Have I said how great this crowd is yet? Strowman is out next and he’s just here to “pile bodies” right? Reigns now comes to the ring and decides to go the action and not speaking route and spears the life out of Samoa Joe. Strowman takes out Reigns and we have Strowman and Lesner face to face in the ring. This is what we want, and damn if I’m not hoping they pull the trigger on Strowman on Sunday. I told you poor security…. Caught in between Strowman and Lesner, hopefully they got hazard pay. We go off the air with the locker room holding back Lesner and Strowman.
