Rumors and Speculation On The Names Being Suggested For The 2017 WWE Hall of Fame

We noted prior that Diamond Dallas Page and ‘Ravishing’ Rick Rude were being inducted into the 2017 WWE Hall of Fame. There has been a ton of speculation about who will be joining them in this years class. As always, the WWE Hall of Fame is a heavily debated topic with many deserving names.

On the latest Wrestling Observer Live (Subscribe here), Bryan Alvarez suggests several names that have been heavily discussed for the 2017 WWE Hall of Fame class. Note: These are not confirmed names, but just ones that are being heavily rumored.

The names were:

  • William Regal
  • Christian
  • The Natural Disasters (Earthquake and Typhoon)
  • Irwin R. Schyster aka I.R.S

Regal and Christian seem like obvious choices. Both had incredible careers with the WWE. Both are also featured on WWE programming to this day (Regal as the General Manager of NXT and Christian on his WWE Network show alongside Edge).

I.R.S (Mike Rotunda) is a 5 time WWE Tag Team Champion. He is also the father to Bray Wyatt and Bo Dallas.

The Natural Disasters are probably the most surprising name on the list of names being discussed. The tag team were together for only a few years in the 90’s and are one time WWE tag team champions. Earthquake passed away in 2006.

If all these turn out to be true, it is a pretty solid class.

Let us know what you think in the comment section below. Who do you think deserves to be in this years class?

  1. Natural Disasters IRS were iconic of WWF/E in the early 90s. You see them and go ‘Oh I remember those guys!’ Regal and Christian are long overdue.

  2. Nice list. If Dibiase is in the HOF, IRS needs to be right there with him. Same with the disasters – Typhoon, but mostly Earthquake, were iconic villains during the Hero era of the WWE.

Regal is long overdue, and Christian…well, I guess he deserves a mention. To each his own.

As for who I’d like to see, I think that, like Sting, Goldberg should be inducted. If this is his last run, might as well put him in there with DDP. If not this year, they gotta induct Taker sometime soon. It’s about time.

For foreign induction, it’s about time The Great Muta, Keiji Muto got his due. He did good business for the territories back in the day, and was a big part of the WCW. If not Muta, The Great Kabuki, the original mist ninja for his amazing work with the NWA and early WWF.

For female, hmm…Victoria. Her psycho persona is one of the most memorable characters of the Ruthless Aggression era. She was also in one of the “first in a long time” women’s cage match on Raw, so that’s worth mentioning, as well as being a great teacher and talent, up until her knee gave out.

  3. Shame to see some REALLY deserving people overlooked.
    Ivan Koloff
    Bruiser Brody
    Ray Stevens
    Wahoo McDaniels
The British Bulldodgs (Dynamite Kid/Davy Boy Smith)
Owen Hart (although there are other factors at work with this one.)
