Ryback Claims Triple H Told Him That WWE Doesn’t Want Its Talent To Have Financial Freedom or Power

On the latest episode of Ryback’s podcast: Conversations with the Big Guy, he had some interesting comments about a conversation that he had with Triple H prior to leaving WWE. Ryback claims that Triple H told him that WWE never wants to build another star like John Cena because they don’t want talent to have financial freedom or power over them.

Here is what he said:

“Hunter [has] told me directly [that WWE does not want young talent to have economic freedom]. He goes, ‘we never want another marquee name here in the WWE.’ This was during my first contract negotiations”

He continued:

“Yeah, legit told me, he goes, ‘we’re never going to have another John Cena.’ And if you look, that’s why they book guys the way they book them. They don’t want guys to have too much power anymore”

An interesting claim considering some would think it would be good mainstream exposure for WWE if a talent reached the level of John Cena. Everyone who becomes a new fan of John Cena outside of the wrestling ring can continue to watch him on WWE programming. An interesting claim that WWE goes out of their way hold down talent in order to control their power.
