12 Best NXT Takeover Matches Of All Time

2) Bayley vs Sasha Banks

NXT Takeover: Brooklyn

The best woman’s match of all time. My personal match of the year of 2015. When you are on a card with Finn Balor and Kevin Owens in a ladder match and that rarely gets spoken about, you know you’ve done well.

It’s hard to put into words how incredible this was, Seth Rollins cried at ringside, Sasha and Bayley cried while embracing and fans around the world cried as they knew women’s wrestling was finally validated.

If you ever meet a wrestling fan who won’t watch women’s wrestling as they view it as second to the men’s, show them this match.

The fantastic heel work put in by Sasha, the plucky, hug life underdog of Bayley, the fantastic finish and the almost film-like storytelling meant it was a match I will never, EEEEEEEVER forget.

Bayley ended up defeating Sasha, winning the NXT Women’s Championship.

Here are the highlights of the curtain call featuring the four horsewomen of NXT:

1) Sami Zayn vs Adrian Neville

NXT Takeover: R-Evolution

We’re finishing how we started. I love Sami Zayn. With him featuring in literally half these matches on this list, it’s impossible to say that he is not the best thing that NXT has ever produced in terms of quality and a character.

Often times wrestling fans are presented with an opportunity to show a single match to a non-wrestling fan in order to try to make them understand why we cherish this business. This is that match in my eyes.

The simple dynamic of an underdog who has been so close consistently to winning the big one but his compassion and kindness has stopped him time and time again is relatable to literally anyone on the planet. The final moment when he runs his hand down his face, proving the fun and games are over and that it’s his time, hitting the Helluva Kick and winning the title sent me into a literal frenzy.

Capping it off with him being rushed by the entire locker room- including his best friend who had debuted at the start of the night, made it literally perfect. Honestly, if you haven’t watched it, go. Do it now. And you’ll know why Sami Zayn is the living, breathing embodiment of NXT.
