WWE Reportedly Planning To Use The ‘Broken’ Gimmick For Matt and Jeff Hardy

Ever since Matt and Jeff Hardy returned to WWE at Wrestlemania 33, fans have been asking if they are going to be able to use their ‘Broken’ characters. So far, we have seen Matt and Jeff return as simply: the Hardy Boyz, using their old gimmick that they made famous.

There have been a number of teases about the characters becoming ‘Broken’ in WWE but they have remained as their old selves so far.

In case you are unfamiliar, The Hardy’s and Impact Wrestling are currently in a legal battle in order to determine who owns the rights to the characters.

According to Dave Meltzer on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio (subscribe here), WWE is reportedly working on a deal with Impact Wrestling in order to use the ‘Broken’ characters on WWE television.

The report says that the deal has not yet been finalized but the two sides are currently in discussion. They [WWE] will continue to tease the characters until a deal is made. It is also unclear if they will buy-out the characters completely or just pay Impact a royalty moving forward. That will depend on how negotiations go.

This is awesome news for fans of the gimmick. It is clear that it has translated over to the WWE audience with constant: ‘Delete’ chants whenever the Hardy’s appear.
