WWE Rumor: Plans For The WWE Universal Title Until Summerslam

Goldberg will be facing off against Kevin Owens at the upcoming Fastlane PPV event for the WWE Universal Championship. There have been a ton of rumors circulating about what will happen at the event with the title heading into (and after) Wrestlemania 33.

Here are some rumors that are circulating about the current plan for the WWE Universal Belt all the way into Summerslam. Note: Plans change in WWE so take rumors with a grain of salt as always. 

Current plans suggest that Goldberg will indeed win the title from Kevin Owens at Fastlane. After the recent ‘Festival of Friendship’, smart money is on Chris Jericho costing Owens the match and setting up their clash at Wrestlemania 33.

For those wondering why Brock Lesnar doesn’t interfere to take out Goldberg. The reason is because if Goldberg wins the title at Fastlane, Brock has an automatic title shot at Wrestlemania 33 (since their match has been confirmed). Why would Brock interfere when he could have a title shot for doing absolutely nothing?

The plans also suggest that Brock will win the belt from Goldberg at Wrestlemania 33. Goldberg will be finished with WWE and Lesnar will hold onto the belt until Summerslam. The hope is that Brock will drop the title at Summerslam to a young talent, giving whoever wins a massive title victory against someone like Brock.

Love or hate Brock Lesnar, a newer talent like Samoa Joe or Finn Balor defeating him for the title would be huge.

In essence we could be getting short-term reigns for Goldberg and Lesnar. This will hopefully lead to the greater good of putting over a young talent in a big way.
