A lot of WWE fans have been dying to see Roman Reigns turn heel on WWE television. Reigns currently receives a split reaction from the WWE Universe. Half the crowd seems to cheer for him, while the other half of the audience boo’s him mercilessly.
Reigns and his crowd reaction has been an interesting story over the past few years. WWE has tried almost everything to get the fans on his side and it has been met with a lot of rejection. A lot of fans haven’t been able to get over the notion that Reigns has been ‘shoved down their throats’ as the top guy.
According to Dave Meltzer on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio (subscribe here), Vince McMahon won’t turn Roman Reigns heel because he still considers him a “big draw” as a babyface. He says that whenever the conversation (in WWE creative) turns to Roman turning heel, Vince shoots it down.
Vince compares the situation to John Cena where he remained as a ‘tweener’ type character and ended up just fine throughout his career.

John Cena has been on top of WWE for the past decade and has an incredible large following. He is always on top of WWE’s merchandise sellers and has a massive fan base within the younger audience. WWE has been hesitant to turn him heel in his career because they don’t want to mess with their top merchandise seller with WWE’s younger audience.
Vince McMahon is stubborn and thinks Reigns will eventually get on the same level. As a result, he will remain as not a good guy, not a bad guy, but THE guy, regardless if fans like it or not.

Vince understands that people will always hate Reigns, but they will continue to watch WWE no matter what.

Good. Reigns IMO doesn’t work as a heel. Some fans wanting him to be heel is backwards logic that doesn’t succeed for actual heels
Anyway, Reigns among the full time wrestlers with the company 300+ days a year is the biggest star they have so what they’re doing is clearly working & Reigns & Styles have the 2 most successful wrestlers of the year. He’s had many MOTY candidates this year
Reigns should just continue what he’s currently doing. No change necessary
