The main event of RAW this week was the Cruiserweight Championship match between Kalisto and Enzo Amore. This was a lumberjack match with the Cruiserweight roster at ringside. We saw a title change as Kalisto was able to win the match and become the new Cruiserweight Champion.
Here are some more details on why Kalisto won the Title.
According to a report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider, the plan throughout the day leading up to RAW was actually Neville vs Enzo for the title. Johnson says that the decision was made to go with Kalisto instead sometime during the afternoon. Johnson says that this was changed because WWE booked themselves into a corner in regards to Neville. There was a stipulation that didn’t allow Neville to get his title rematch (after he assaulted Enzo a few weeks ago). As a result it was changed from Neville to Kalisto.
Johnson also says that the decision was partially made to go with Kalisto because RAW landed on the birthday of Eddie Guerrero. This allowed WWE to have a promo segment where Kalisto said how much Eddie inspired him and his career. As a result, this tied Kalisto’s win to the Guerrero legacy.
Regardless, it looks like WWE wanted the belt off Enzo.
