A few weeks ago, a fan tweeted out that the Rock vs Seth Rollins was a match that they wanted to see. Rollins responded, tweeting: “I mean Mania is only like 8 months away…”. This caused a bit of a Twitter frenzy with fans thinking we could be getting the Rock vs Seth at Wrestlemania 34.
The Rock did not appear at Wrestlemania 33 in any capacity. How likely is it that we could see the Rock to appear at Wrestlemania 34? Here are some rumors on the situation.
Will The Rock Be At Wrestlemania 34?
Dave Meltzer was asked about the Rock’s status for the event during the mailbag portion of Wrestling Observer Radio (subscribe here). While he doesn’t rule out an appearance, Meltzer says that him wrestling at the event seems like a long-shot.
Meltzer says that insurance reasons play a big role in the Rock at Wrestlemania. The Rock is one of the most in-demand actors in the world right now. He has multiple projects on the go at one time. If he was to get hurt, it could jeopardize the films that he is working on. That is the reason why we haven’t seen him wrestle a (real) match for several years (and no we are not counting Wrestlemania 32). The Rock was apparently injured several years ago after his match against John Cena and it caused setbacks in filming his movie: ‘Hercules’.
The Rock’s movie career is booming (he was the World’s highest-paid actor in 2016). It seems unlikely that he would risk any of his film projects (or the movies themselves would let him) for a wrestling match.
Last time Wrestlemania was in New Orleans, the Rock appeared alongside Steve Austin and Hulk Hogan. It would be cool to see the Rock for an appearance at the event, but him wrestling seems VERY slim.
