Why WWE Isn’t Getting Involved In “Broken’ Gimmick Saga

Things are getting ugly between Impact Wrestling and the Hardy’s surrounding the ‘Broken’ gimmick. On Tuesday night, Impact Wrestling’s President Ed Nordholm released several documents, including (part) of Matt Hardy’s contract.

It is clear that the two sides will likely have to settle things in court if we ever want to see the gimmick in WWE.

But why hasn’t WWE gotten involved and helped out the Hardy’s?

According to the latest Wrestling Observer Radio (subscribe here), Dave Meltzer says that WWE doesn’t want to set the precedent of buying a gimmick/idea from someone else.

It was also noted that WWE clearly has interest in the gimmick or they wouldn’t allow Matt to do any of his ‘Broken’ mannerisms on television. As noted prior, Nordholm is claiming that WWE has no interest at all in using the gimmick.

Even though WWE is interested, they are likely not going to get involved anytime soon. It seems like the use of the gimmick in WWE all depends on if Matt can win the battle against Impact by himself.

It seems like Matt is confident:

We will have to wait and see how it turns out. Until then, Matt will not be ‘Broken’ in WWE anytime soon.
