Shane McMahon announced on RAW that there will be WWE Tag Team Tournament to determine the number one contenders for the WWE Tag Team Championships. The winner of the tournament will presumably face off with the New Day for the Tag Titles at WWE Payback.
On this weeks RAW, we saw the Dudley Boyz advance by beating the Lucha Dragons and the Usos advance by beating the Social Outcasts. I think it is easy to assume that newcomers Enzo and Cass are going to defeat the Ascension and the Vaudevillians are going to defeat the ‘Golden Truth’ team on Smackdown this week (Could be wrong about the Vaudevillians though).
This leaves us with Enzo and Cass vs the Dudley Boyz. It also leaves us with the Vaudevillians vs The Usos. I predict that Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows took out the Usos in order to take their spot in the tournament (You can see how twitter reacted to this moment here). This would see them winning any remaining matches and becoming the number one contenders and facing off with the New Day (who just turned babyface). The tag team division is really lacking any heel firepower and I think Anderson and Gallows are going to play that role. I also think it would be great to see them face off against the New Day, and potentially even bring in a third man to neutralize the New Day’s 3 man attack (I’m looking at you Finn Balor).
I don’t think Enzo and Cass are going to get title shots right away anyways, so I see them losing to the Dudley Boyz who end up cheating and setting up a re-match at WWE Payback.
Let me know how you predict the tournament to go! I love these types of things as it gives some meaning to the matches we are seeing on RAW.
