Backstage News On The Current Plan For The Wrestlemania 34 Main Event (Hint: You Will Probably Hate It)

Wrestlemania 34 is still a long time away. We do know that the event will take place at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. If these new reports are true, we also know what could be the Wrestlemania 34 main event.

According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscribe here), the current (long-term booking) plan for the Wrestlemania 34 main event is Roman Reigns vs Brock Lesnar for the WWE Universal Championship.

WWE could change their plans but the idea is that Reigns will defeat Brock and replace John Cena as the new face of the company. This was reportedly the plan at Wrestlemania 31 but WWE changed their minds due to Reigns’ crowd reaction (Seth Rollins would cash-in his Money In The Bank briefcase, which turned out to be a fantastic Wrestlemania moment).

It should be noted that there is no indication that this means that Lesnar will hold the Universal Title for a year or that Reigns will defeat the Undertaker at Wrestlemania 33. This is just the plan that WWE reportedly wants to build towards over the next year.

It will certainly be interesting to see how fans react. We can assume that a lot of fans that dislike Roman Reigns won’t be too thrilled with the possibility of seeing a rematch between Brock and Reigns.

Let us know what you think in the comment section below. Would you be okay with this match? What match would you like to see be the Wrestlemania 34 main event? We want to hear your opinion!

  1. I love how WWE just changed their business model. used to be if you got booed, it was an indication that people didn’t like you. now its – as long as they make ANY noise, it can be and will be barometer for what they really want.

(so the experiment would be – if we don’t make any noise during a roman seg, you’ll stop pushing him)

you can’t hold two contradicting views – you only want to give the fans what they want. and also that vince makes the final calls on everything and he’ll ultimately do what he wants because its his company and he’s the boss.

so which is it… do you try to put your best foot forward for the fans, or are we all simply at the mercy of vince?

you’re seemingly still going to have guys like Styles, Rollins, HHH, Nakamura, Joe, KO, etc… and you’re going to keep feeding us roman in the main event of your biggest show because he looks good on a poster?

it’s like this vince… we all know you think roman is the prettiest girl at the party – we get it. but you’re the only one at the party trying to talk w/ roman, while everyone else is hitting up the rest of the party.
