Wrestlemania Facts That You Might Not Know

Wrestlemania is the biggest event of the year for wrestling fans. The event has a very rich history and there have been many incredible moments. Here is a list of 8 Wrestlemania facts that you may not know!

Wrestlemania Facts

8) The Big Boss Man Had A Pretty Impressive WrestleMania record.

I thought that I would start off this list with a random fact about The Big Boss Man. It turns out that he had a 5-1 record at WrestleMania, despite never being a main event guy.

  • At WrestleMania V, Big Boss Man teamed up with Akeem to form the Twin Towers. They defeated the Rockers (Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty).
  • At WrestleMania VI, Big Boss Man defeated his old tag team partner Akeem in less than 2 minutes.
  • At WrestleMania VII, Big Boss Man defeated Mr. Perfect by Disqualification for the Intercontinental Championship. This still counts as a win even though he didn’t win the title.
  • At WrestleMania VIII, Big Boss Man, Virgil, Sgt. Slaughter and Jim Duggan defeated The Nasty Boys, Repo Man and The Mountie.
  • Big Boss Man suffered his first and only loss at WrestleMania XV to the Undertaker in a Hell in a Cell match.
  • At WrestleMania 2000, Big Boss Man and Bull Buchanan defeated The Godfather and D’Lo Brown.

A pretty solid Wrestlemania record for a midcard guy!

7) WrestleMania 2 Took Place on a Monday

WrestleMania 2 is the only WrestleMania to ever take place on a Monday. As wrestling fans know, Wrestlemania on Sunday has become a WWE tradition.

The event took place on April 7th, 1986. It also took place in three separate arenas:

  • Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in New York
  • Rosemont Horizon in Chicago
  • Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena in Los Angeles.

Each of these venues featured their own main event. For some reason, WWE held the event on a Monday.

I couldn’t find out why they chose to host this event on a Monday. If anyone has any idea leave me a comment! Still interesting to see that WrestleMania didn’t always take place on Sunday like we are used to.

6) The Godfather has appeared at WrestleMania as 4 different characters.

A pretty cool fact is that the Godfather appeared at WrestleMania using 4 different gimmicks/ characters.

  • At WrestleMania IX, he performed as Papa Shango, losing to Tito Santana in the opening match.
  • At WrestleMania XI, he performed as Kama. He was involved in stealing the Undertaker’s signature urn during his match against King Kong Bundy.
  • As the Godfather, he appeared in a couple of WrestleMania matches.
  • Finally, as the Goodfather and a member of Right to Censor, he lost to Tazz and the APA at WrestleMania 17.

Pretty incredible that he competed as so many different gimmicks at WrestleMania. I guess that is why he is a WWE Hall of Famer.
