Stephanie McMahon Teases Future Project For Female WWE Talent

Women’s wrestling has grown tremendously over the past year. We have seen the WWE completely abolish the term ‘Diva’ and start to call their female talent WWE Superstars like their male counterparts. We have seen two females main event a WWE Network Special (Bayley vs Sasha Banks at NXT Takeover Brooklyn). The WWE created the WWE Women’s Championship. Women are gaining more match time during weekly RAW’s and sometimes there is even 2 female matches on the show. It is clear that Women’s wrestling has made a step in the right direction but what is next??? In a recent interview on the Wrestling Compadres Slamcast, Stephanie McMahon teased a future project involving female WWE talent.

When asked about the WWE Cruiserweight Classic, Stephanie McMahon said:

“Yep, I mean, that’s how I certainly heard about it. [Triple H] sort of started pitching ideas, ‘what do you think about this?’ He percolates ideas and you can tell he’s thinking about something, but he doesn’t necessarily come out with it right away. He likes to formulate it a little bit more. He did actually pitch another idea that has to do with the women that I’m not going to get into. So definitely, there are different things in progress and the Cruiserweight Classic is one that made sense on all different levels and we’re doing it!” (Source; Wrestling Compadres Slamcast,  H/T to Wrestling Inc).

I have heard many followers suggest things on Twitter like a female Money in the Bank Ladder match or cage match. What I would really enjoy is if the WWE did some sort of Women’s tournament like they are doing with the Cruiserweight Classic. It could be a cool opportunity to show off some of the best female talent in the world.
