Cody Rhodes appeared on the debut episode of the Ric Flair Show hosted by the MLW Radio Network. On the episode, he cleared up some of the rumors about his WWE departure. There were some conspiracy theories that him leaving the WWE was an elaborate way for him and the WWE to kill off the Stardust character, only for him to return after a successful run on the indies. There was also talk that he signed a legends deal with the company so they could still sell some of his merchandise.

Cody Rhodes clears up his relationship with the WWE:
“I can tell you 100 percent that WWE and myself have gone separate ways. I saw even there was a rumor about a merchandising contract. I think that might have stemmed from the fact that the only discussion post-wwe was about my dad’s books. And it was very important to me that they granted the rights to write his book before I left. It was important, I knew that was one of the big risks I was taking by leaving that they may take the book away from me, they did not (Source: The Ric Flair Show).
Cody Rhodes continues, updating us on the progress on the book and thanking the WWE and Triple H for doing justice to his dad’s legacy.
“I am still writing Dusty Rhodes: Wrestling’s Last Cowboy. I am excited at the progress it is taking. I didn’t want anyone else to write it. Dusty was my best friend, we were very close, everybody knows that and I tried to kind of do justice to his legacy. As has WWE, Triple H rolled out a hell of a series of things: the statue, the tournament” (Source: The Ric Flair Show).
