Being a wrestling fan can come with some challenges. Most peoples reactions when you say you love wrestling or the WWE is “you know it’s fake right”? Sure wrestling is scripted and the punches are pulled but to call it fake is simply ignorance. John Cena on a recent appearance on the Ballin’ Out Podcast addressed ignorant fans who call wrestling fake.

Here was his response:
“When the company’s name is World Wrestling Entertainment, we openly say in the name of the company that it is entertainment. You are buying a ticket, you are clicking on the WWE Network, you are watching USA Network to be entertained through sport. It is scripted. We say it in the title, so for somebody to come out and say, ‘ah, it’s fake!’, it’s like saying Game Of Thrones is fake” (Source: Ballin’ Out Podcast).
Cena continues:
“I don’t mind if someone says, ‘well, that type of entertainment isn’t for me’ because we’re not for everyone. When they say, ‘oh, wrestling’s fake!’, that is ignorant. That is no idea of what we do. That is a cop out. That’s a short answer and that is like, ‘well, I haven’t even taken the time to give it a second thought’. That’s not right and I don’t even pay that any mind”(Source: Ballin’ Out Podcast).
I agree with Cena on this one. I have no problem when people tell me they don’t watch it because it is scripted or they think it is stupid. I just think calling it fake is completely disrespectful to anyone who has stepped inside a ring. The toll on these athletes body is anything but fake if you ask me.

I agree. Movies, especially action movies, is more fake than wrestling. Wrestlers jump in the air and land straight on their backs. Nothing fake about that.
