Update On If Conor McGregor’s Insults About WWE Stars Is A “Work”

Conor McGregor recently made headlines in the professional wrestling world when he called the WWE locker room P****** and said he would whoop the entire roster. As expected, many current and former WWE stars didn’t take too well to those comments. We have seen a number of stars take to twitter and respond to McGregor, like: Roman Reigns, Ric Flair, Kurt Angle and more.

Since this is professional wrestling after all, it is also rumored that this could be a giant “work”. Conor says something anti-WWE, and many stars respond to him. This would ultimately set up a future appearance on WWE TV. According to Meltzer, while Conor is selling his upcoming fight, the responses from wrestlers are seemingly real.

Meltzer recently posted on F4WOnline’s message board (subscription required but recommended) about the Conor McGregor and WWE situation:

“It’s not a work. I suppose Vince may try to turn it into a work like he did with Dwayne a few years ago. A lot of wrestlers are legit pissed. Conor is a guy who thinks he’s really smart, and he is, who got exposed a few months ago and I don’t mean as a fighter, but as a manipulator when he f’d up his own UFC 200 main event. He’s doing this for attention to build up his fight, and thinking he can work it into his own wrestling angle. Time will tell if he was right long-term. Short-term, there was a WWE/UFC crossover thing, not that big, but it did exist, that Conor may have blown. Should know more in a few days” (Source: Wrestling Observer Board).

I would have to think the WWE will turn this into a work and run with it. McGregor became the biggest heel in wrestling with only a couple of comments! I think they would be silly not to use it somehow. Let us know what you think in the comment section below about the whole situation!
