Eric Bischoff Explains Why He Is Excited For The Dean Ambrose vs Dolph Ziggler Match

Dean Ambrose defends his WWE Championship at Summerslam against Dolph Ziggler.  Dolph earned the right to face Ambrose several weeks ago after he won the six-pack challenge against John Cena, Bray Wyatt, Baron Corbin, AJ Styles, and Apollo Crews. On the most recent episode of Eric Bischoff’s new podcast (Bischoff On Wrestling), the former WCW boss talks praises Dolph Ziggler and why he is very excited for the match.

Bischoff starts by praising Dolph Zigglerm calling him a 360 degree performer:

“I just dig Dolph Ziggler. Never met him. Never shook his hand. Never had a beer with him. Anything. I follow him on Twitter. I watch his stuff on television. I’m aware of his background. He’s just, to me, kind of like a 360° performer. Meaning he just covers all the bases. He’s entertaining as hell. He’s quick witted. He gives great promos. Clearly he’s physically gifted. He understands the art. This is almost hard to explain because it’s almost an abstract feeling. To me, he gets it. He just gets it. I’d love to see a guy like that get an opportunity. I think we’ve only seen the tip of the iceberg with a guy like Dolph Ziggler” (Source: Bischoff On Wrestling).

He believes that Ziggler and Ambrose have created a relatable an believable story heading into their match:

“Nothing against Dean Ambrose. They both had great promos on Smackdown. It created a sense of stakes. Which I think is a thing that is severely lacking. Anyone who has ever worked with me in creative knows that I believe strongly… like, I’ll fight over it, I’ll draw blood over it… I believe strongly in a three act structure. You need to have a beginning, a middle and an end. You have to craft it in a way that is entertaining but you also have to have stakes that are believable and relatable. What I took away from those promos they did this past Tuesday is that there is a mutual respect there but the stakes have transitioned from just being about the title to kind of the politics within the business. Which is believable. It’s relatable” (Source: Bischoff On Wrestling).
