During this weeks Smackdown, two members of the ‘Spirit Squad’ returned to WWE for the first time in a number of years during the Dolph Ziggler and the Miz segment. Kenny and Mikey made their returns to the WWE for the first time since being released several years ago. They eventually attacked their old Spirit Squad member Nicky (Dolph) in the ring.

The Miz made the joke that the other two members got lost in transit when the Spirit Squad was sent back to OVW. This was an obvious shot at all the members being sent back to WWE’s development system and eventually released by the company (except Dolph).
So where were Johnny and Mitch???
According to Crave Wrestling (check out the Pancakes and Powerslams Show), Johnny was contacted to return for the segment but declined:
“As seen on WWE SmackDown Live, Spirit Squad members Kenny Dykstra and Mike Mondo made a one-off return to elevate the Miz vs. Dolph Ziggler feud. Two members were not present during the segment. I had a chance to communicate with Johnny Jeter about whether he was contacted by WWE. He stated that he was, last week. Regarding why he did not appear, he stated that it would have been a conflict of interest with his current employer, so he had to respectfully decline. He also stated that he is no longer in the pro wrestling business” (Source: Facebook).

No word yet on why Mitch didn’t appear but it is likely he just declined the invitation.
