Jim Cornette was recently interviewed by Total Wrestling Magazine. During the interview, he spoke on a wide variety of topics. One of his most interesting comments was surrounding today’s WWE stars and why a lot of them don’t connect with the audience.

Cornette has worked in professional wrestling for a number of decades. Here is why he thinks a majority of WWE stars don’t connect:
“The writers have ‘ideas for people’ and try to find people who ‘look like’ those people. Instead of saying – ‘okay, people seem to like this guy, let’s run with him’ they’ve already figured out what they want to put out there, they just need to find someone to play him. It’s ludicrous. It’s why people don’t connect, and when they do connect, it’s for something the writers didn’t expect. So they get mad and bury the poor guy” (Source: Total Wrestling Magazine).

Cornette gets a lot of slack from wrestling fans for being bitter or highly critical but I agree with him. It seems like WWE wants to ignore when guys ‘get themselves over’ with things that are outside of the script. Instead of embracing them, WWE sometimes shuts it down because it wasn’t their idea.
