Wyatt Family Freebird Rule Announced

Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton won the Smackdown Tag Team Titles at TLC against Rhyno and Heath Slater. They were able to successfully defend the tag team belts on Smackdown Live this week in a rematch against Slater and Rhyno.

We previously reported that the Wyatt Family would likely defend the tag belts using the ‘Freebird Rule’. This is similar to the way the New Day defends their tag team gold on RAW with Xavier Woods, Big E and Kofi Kingston being recognized as tag champions.

WWE made it official that the Wyatt Family Freebird rule would be in effect, making Luke Harper a tag team champion in the process:

“While Bray Wyatt & Randy Orton captured the titles for the Family at WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs, SmackDown LIVE Commissioner Shane McMahon and General Manager Daniel Bryan have sanctioned Luke Harper as champion as well, making him eligible to defend the titles alongside Wyatt or Orton under the Freebird Rule”
