Public Interest In WWE PPV’s Reportedly Dropping A Large Amount

In the most recent F4WOnline.com Daily Update, Dave Meltzer explains a recent lack of interest regarding WWE PPV events. This came one day after WWE Roadblock: End of the Line a show that has drawn a lot of criticism for being one of the worst of the year.

Meltzer says that WWE PPV’s are declining in the public interest. Roadblock was #16 on the top 20 most searched items of the day with around 100,000 searches. He notes that this is a large drop from what search numbers usually are. 200,000 searches used to be the absolute minimum for a WWE PPV.

He also mentions that TLC a few weeks ago was the first time in a while that a WWE PPV hasn’t cracked the top 20 most searched list. It is also noted that the Smackdown exclusive events have done worse than the RAW events so far in terms of public interest.

Not good news for WWE. We have to wonder if WWE is simply running too many PPV’s. This isn’t allowing them appropriate time to build the event and as a result shows are looking weaker. Many fans criticized Roadblock for being just another episode of RAW. After it played out, it is kind of hard to argue against it.

  1. Of course, those PPV matches are simply Raw and Smackdown rematches which we have already seen a lot within a short period of time, they keep throwing supposed PPV matches on free TV, so all the matches are nothing fresh at all
