WWE Rumor: Reasons Why Goldberg Could Win The Title At WWE Fastlane

On the February 6th episode of RAW, Goldberg challenged Kevin Owens to a match for the WWE Universal Championship. The challenge was accepted by Kevin Owens’ best friend: Chris Jericho. The match was made official for WWE Fastlane on March 5th in Milwaukee.

Goldberg also accepted the challenge from Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 33. There are some rumors circulating that Goldberg will win the title from Owens. As a result, the main event of Wrestlemania 33 would be Brock vs Goldberg for the Universal belt.

Why would WWE book it like that?

According to rumors, Vince McMahon wants the Goldberg and Lesnar match to be as big as possible. Fans have already seen Goldberg beat Lesnar in less than 2 minutes and they feel like a rematch would be a bit of a tough sell. Giving the title to Goldberg would add some stakes to their match at the event.

Goldberg has received great reactions from the crowd since returning and that might justify the decision for Vince to put the belt on the 50-year-old Goldberg.

Many fans think Lesnar will cost Goldberg the match at Fastlane (similar to when Lesnar cost him the 2004 Royal Rumble). Why would Lesnar cost him the opportunity at the title when he already has a confirmed match against him at Wrestlemania? Goldberg winning would give Lesnar an automatic title shot, meaning logically we shouldn’t expect his interference.

Kevin Owens is also rumored to be facing Chris Jericho at Wrestlemania 33. There is some belief that the long-term storytelling has been so strong between their ‘friendship’ that the title doesn’t have to be involved for it to be an intriguing match. Another reason why Goldberg could win the title.

From all accounts it seems like Goldberg will be winning the WWE Universal Title at Fastlane. What do you think? Leave us a comment below.
