WWE Rumor: Reason Why Kane Wasn’t In The Royal Rumble Match

You might have noticed that Kane hasn’t been featured on Smackdown Live for the past few months. You also might be suspicious about why Kane didn’t appear in the 2017 Royal Rumble match. Kane has been a staple of the Royal Rumble match over the past decade and a half.

The rumored reason that Kane wasn’t in the Rumble or hasn’t been on WWE TV is because he is dealing with numerous (nagging) injuries. This is according to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscribe here).

It is unclear what is exactly bothering him, but we can assume that his body is worn down from a wrestling career that has spanned over 25 years. He is turning 50 just after Wrestlemania 33.

His last match on Smackdown Live was at the end of November where defeated Luke Harper. He also hasn’t been working WWE live events for the past few weeks.

In a 2014 interview with Pitch, Kane was asked how long he wants to keep wrestling:

“I don’t know. I really don’t. I’m still having fun, I’ve been fortunate in that I haven’t had any really bad injuries. I stay in good shape. I can still perform at a high level. I get in there and hang with guys that are almost half my age. And, in fact, I feel like they have to hang with me rather than me hang with them. So as long as I can do that, I’m good with WWE as long as I’m having fun and as long as that I’m preforming at a level that is acceptable to me”

It will be interesting to see if things have changed for him over the past 2 years and if he thinks he can still compete.
