WWE Rumor: Is The Muscle Buster Banned?

Samoa Joe made his main roster debut when he attacked Seth Rollins on the January 30th episode of RAW. He wrestled his first match with the WWE main roster the week after, picking up the win over Roman Reigns. Fans have been wondering after his first few weeks on RAW: is the Muscle Buster banned?

Samoa Joe has used the Muscle Buster finishing move for a large chunk of his career, including during his time in NXT. It was a big strange that after several weeks on the main roster, we haven’t seen Samoa Joe use the move.

Against Rollins, he put him in the Coquina Clutch, his signature submission hold. In his match against Roman Reigns he won the match, but not using his patented Muscle Buster. Instead he used a suplex variation for the 1-2-3. This was the same for his match against Cesaro.

So, is the Muscle Buster banned? Why haven’t we saw him use it in his first few appearances on the WWE main roster?

There are a lot of rumors circulating that the move could be banned. It was the move that ended the career of Tyson Kidd. It has been stated numerous times that the injury to Kidd WASN’T the fault of Joe, it was just a freak accident. Joe would go on to use the move during his run with NXT.

Are some of the main roster guys afraid to take the move? Cesaro was interviewed in 2016 by the GMA Network. He was asked if he would wrestle Samoa Joe after what happened to Tyson Kidd:

“Yes — maybe without the muscle buster. There’s a couple of moves outlawed in the WWE, and I think that one maybe be added. But I wrestled Samoa Joe before, and why not again?”

It could be a case of the Muscle Buster being banned by Vince McMahon or it could be a case that only a handful of guys will take the move willingly. We will have to wait and see over the next few months as Joe wrestles more matches with the company.

  1. If wrestlers in the back are afraid to take it from him then he shouldn’t be allowed to do the move. Also Styles’s Styles Class as cool of a move it is if a wrestler doesn’t want it done to him in the match because of it’s past history it shouldn’t be performed.

I’m not saying actually ban it but I am saying if it has a bad history with that wrestler then other wrestlers should be able to disagree with it being used in there match.
