One of the biggest things that fans have criticized about Smackdown Live is the shows use of a four-man announce team. Mauro Ranallo leads David Otunga, JBL and Tom Phillips as the crew that call Smackdown Live every week. It is a very unusual sight seeing four people cramped behind the desk to call the show.

Legendary commentator Jim Ross took to his blog to praise the four men on the Smackdown crew. He says that they don’t deserve the criticism that they receive from fans:
“Even though many fans seemingly don’t like the four man announce team on SD Live I think that the quartet does a good job managing the traffic as it is challenging to accomplish. The on camera chemistry for the SD Live broadcast team is a unique one and doesn’t deserve the consternation that they receive. Broadcasting the product in WWE isn’t a walk in the park but the best things in life often times aren’t easy”

It is certainly an interesting dynamic having four people behind the desk. It is especially comical when they have someone from the Smackdown roster on commentary with them. On Smackdown the other week the four-man team was joined by the Miz, Maryse and Baron Corbin. This had to be an intentional joke played by Vince McMahon.
