One of the biggest rumors heading into Wrestlemania 33 surrounds AJ Styles and who his opponent will be at the event. It has been rumored for the past several weeks that AJ Styles will likely be wrestling Smackdown commissioner: Shane McMahon at the event.

So how will the WWE set this up?
AJ was a guest on this weeks episode of Talking Smack. During his appearance, viewers saw some subtle hints about how WWE will be setting up the rumored match.
AJ and Daniel Bryan bickered about AJ not receiving his one on one rematch for the WWE Championship. Styles received matches in the Elimination Chamber and in a triple threat (on Smackdown), but he is yet to get his one on one rematch for the belt.
He says that Shane McMahon ‘promised’ him a one on one rematch. He also referred to Bryan as Shane’s puppet. Bryan agreed that there are people higher than him that make the decisions.
This is the rumored way that WWE is setting up this feud. Expect over the next few weeks on Smackdown Live to see more tension between the two of them.

The tension between the two of them was originally teased when Shane announced the winner of the match between Styles and Cena (at the Royal Rumble) would have to defend their title in the Elimination Chamber a few weeks later.
Looks like the feud is going to be based around Shane keeping AJ Styles from winning the WWE Championship.
