“What I really wanted was I wanted a match with Brock Lesnar, that was my thing. But I didn’t want to go into the match with Brock Lesnar (having) that be the first time I ever take a German suplex (following) my neck surgery”
So how close were we to Daniel Bryan vs Brock Lesnar to actually happening? According to Dave Meltzer, it was the planned main event of Summerslam a few years ago.

Some have theorized that this match would have replaced the encounter between John Cena and Brock at Summerslam 2014. The match where Brock DESTROYED Cena. The idea would have likely been for Daniel Bryan to get destroyed by Lesnar in a similar situation, putting a ton of heat on Brock. This didn’t happen due to Daniel Bryan getting injured and it will remain as a dream match for many fans.
