Shelton Benjamin was supposed to appear on Smackdown Live after the WWE Draft. Several vignettes aired last year to advertise that he was returning to the company. During WWE’s testing, it was revealed that Benjamin required shoulder surgery, ending the chances of his return.

After several months of recovery, Benjamin is officially cleared to wrestle again. Many fans assumed that he would be joining WWE after he recovered.
It turns out that this isn’t the case. Benjamin says that he never officially signed with the company due to his injury and he is officially a free agent.

He has been taking bookings for different independent promotions over the past few weeks. It is unclear as of right now if this ends any hope for him returning in the future or if WWE might wait a little bit until trying to sign him again.
We will have to wait and see what happens. As of right now, he is not returning to the company.
