According to a new report from BroadcastingCable.com, Smackdown Live will feature picture-in-picture advertising in the very near future. What the heck is picture-in-picture advertising? And what does it mean for fans of the blue brand?

According to the report, here is how it will affect your Smackdown Live viewing:
“When the commercial break starts, the sound will go down on the action, but viewers will still be able to see the “Superstars” bash each other with steel chairs and jump from the turnbuckles. Meanwhile, the ad message plays with sound and motion”
You might have recognized this happening in the past when Smackdown first went live in 2016. This was NBC Universal’s way to test it out for wrestling programs. Fans of NASCAR will also recognize this type of advertising. It appears like WWE and NBC will be going full steam ahead with this concept in the next few weeks. Note: This will only be for viewers in the United States (for now).
The idea is that for advertisers, it will try to limit fans changing channels during commercial breaks.

It is likely that it is only coming to Smackdown Live as a test right now. If things go well, we might see RAW adopt the same format.
