The rumor mill has been flying after a recent tweet by WWE about Shelton Benjamin. The tweet was advertising an article about why Shelton Benjamin was called ‘the Gold Standard’.

At the bottom of the tweet, it read: “Before Shelton Benjamin returns to SmackDown Live, check out The Gold Standard’s most jaw-dropping feats of athleticism in this WWE.com playlist”

The playlist being linked by the tweet was written prior to when Benjamin was supposed to return back in 2016. This explains the description but hasn’t stopped fans from speculating on his return.
There were also some rumors a few months ago that suggested Shelton could be on his way back to the WWE soon. We will have to wait and see if it happens.
