The rumor mill has been flying over the past week with talk about a potential Brock Lesnar vs Jon Jones super-fight. It began when Jones called out Lesnar after his UFC 214 win against Daniel Cormier. Paul Heyman also said if Brock loses at Summerslam, he will be leaving WWE.

Dave Meltzer in an article for MMAfighting.com suggests that if a fight between Jon Jones and Brock Lesnar does happen, it won’t be until the Summer of 2018. Here are some of the reasons:
– Lesnar would have to re-enter USADA testing for the remaining 6 months of his suspension. If he re-entered today, that would make him eligible to return in January of 2018.
– Lesnar’s contract with WWE runs until after Wrestlemania 34. Meltzer says Brock is almost a lock to headline the 2018 Royal Rumble (on January 28th). One of his WWE sources also said Brock is 100% guaranteed for Wrestlemania 34. This would mean he would be on WWE television in January and March to build up to the event.
– Following Wrestlemania, he would need a couple of months for a full fight camp in order to return to the octagon. This would leave the earliest that he could fight in June of 2018 if it all plays out like that.
