News On When Jeff Hardy’s Injury Actually Occurred And How Long He Could Be Out For

It was announced this week that Jeff Hardy tore his rotator cuff and it will require surgery. Jeff appeared on RAW this week alongside his brother Matt Hardy but Michael Cole made it clear that Jeff will be out for a significant amount of time.

Here is the latest on when Jeff’s injury happened and how long he could be out of action for.

Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio (subscribe here), says that the injury occurred at the Great Balls of Fire Pay-Per-View. This came in the 30 minute Iron Man match against Sheamus & Cesaro. Hardy has been working through the injury ever since.

Jeff will have surgery on October 3rd to repair the injury. According to WWE’s doctor, the injury is:

“a full thickness tear of his supraspinatus tendon and a couple of other areas in the shoulder”.

Wrestling INC is reporting that Shelton Benjamin and Erick Rowan suffered similar injuries. They were both out of action for about seven months. If that time-frame is correct, that could keep Jeff out until late April-May 2018, which would mean he will miss Wrestlemania.

It will depend on how bad the injury is once they do the surgery. As of right now, it looks like Jeff will be out for a significant amount of time.
