According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscribe here), we have some more details on Smackdown’s invasion of RAW.
According to Meltzer, the angle was pre-taped and the backstage stuff was mostly shot in the afternoon before RAW.
The decision to tape it beforehand was made because WWE wanted to make sure it looked violent enough. Meltzer says that there were even some scenes that were edited out because it didn’t look enough like a fight.
As for RAW’s retaliation attack on Smackdown, Meltzer says that it is possible that it could happen next week if they want to do a full pre-tape. RAW and Smackdown have shows at the exact same time in the United Kingdom that are 87 miles apart. It seems more likely that WWE will wait until the November 14th episode of Smackdown in Charlotte, North Carolina where they can do it live (and mix in some more pre-taped stuff like they did on RAW).
The November 14th episode of Smackdown is also the go-home show for Survivor Series.
