Major Changes Were Made To The Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Tournament (SPOILERS)

A few major changes were made to the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament at Wednesday’s NXT taping. A reminder that this page will feature future spoilers for NXT TV, you have been warned.

The first major change had to do with one of the teams that was originally supposed to compete. Tyler Bate and Trent Seven were on the original bracket but were taken off.

Bate and Seven were replaced in the tournament by Roderick Strong and Pete Dunne.

Another major change was that the original plans called for the finals of the tournament to take place at NXT Takeover: New Orleans. This was scrapped and WWE ended up doing the finals at the recent taping.

The finals ended up being Strong and Dunne vs the Authors of Pain. This ended in a no-contest after Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly of the Undisputed Era interfered. William Regal announced a match for Takeover: New Orleans. The Undisputed Era vs Dunne and Strong vs the Authors of Pain. This will be for the NXT Tag Team Titles and the winners will also be crowned as the Dusty Classic winners.

It looks like Cole will be taking the place of Bobby Fish for the Undisputed Era. Fish suffered a leg injury over the weekend. Cole will also be involved in another match at the event, which you can read more about here

Some major changes, but I don’t think too many will complain. What do you think?
