Tom Phillips took over the role as the lead commentator of Monday Night RAW during the Royal Rumble PPV. This was odd as Vic Joseph has been the lead guy on RAW for the past several months.

We have an update for you on WWE’s plans for the RAW commentary team.
According to a report from Mike Johnson of PWinsider, Tom Phillips will be permanently replacing Vic Joseph on the RAW team. Here is what Johnson wrote:
As of this week, Tom Phillips will be officially replacing Vic Joseph as the lead announcer of the Monday Night Raw brand, PWInsider.com has confirmed.
That is why Joseph is not on the Royal Rumble PPV.
We are told Vic Joseph is still with WWE and the decision was made within the last week.
We will let you know if we hear anything more about WWE’s plans for Vic Joseph. All we know now is that he is being replaced on RAW.
