8) Ric Flair On How Special Mr. Perfect Was

Ric Flair became good friends with Hennig throughout their careers. The two of them became traveling partners for a brief period of time and he has some great memories.

After Hennig’s passing in 2003, Flair spoke about Curt and how special he was:

“He just was an awesome guy and an awesome performer. He just always kept me smiling- He just was the kind of guy who if he was upset about something, you never saw it. We got along great and had great chemistry. He made me laugh as much as Arn Anderson did”

On traveling the world with Curt Hennig and having a great time:

“It was the best. When he and I were together — ask Vince — we had a lot of fun. We had a great time. We traveled around the world together. When you’ve got someone you can always have fun with, work is never work. When I was working with Curt, we had such a great time that it wasn’t work”

On his world-famous ribs [that you will see later in this article], Flair says that they were never done with malice:

“Curt ribbed a lot of guys, but he did it having fun. It was never malicious.”

7) Bret Hart Praises Mr. Perfect In & Out Of The Ring

Bret ‘the Hitman’ Hart is considered one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all-time. Hart has had nothing but good things to say about Mr. Perfect over the years. The two of them have put on some classic matches with one another.

From an interview with Sports Illustrated, Bret praises Hennig as one of the greatest wrestlers of all-time. Here is what he had to say:

“Curt Hennig was one of the greatest athletes to ever put on a pair of wrestling boots. You could wake me up at four in the morning and I could wrestle Curt Hennig for an hour and have a five-star match. He was so safe in his matches, and logical. He didn’t waste a lot of moves. Every move made sense. There was a reason why he did it, and it fit into the theme of the whole storyline.  A lot of wrestlers would be better off today if they watched Curt Hennig. It’s not about what you do, it’s how you do it.”

In his column for the Calgary Sun after the passing of Hennig, Hart spoke more about who he was as a man:

“Curt will always be remembered as a great wrestler but those of us lucky enough to have known him will remember him best for his brilliant sense of humor, his big heart and his never ending devotion to his family”

Bret has also said that if he could go back in time and have one more match, he would always choose Hennig as his opponent.
