Finn Balor Reveals The Original Plans For The ‘Demon’ Character In WWE

Finn Balor was recently interviewed by Al Arabiya, where he spoke on a wide variety of topics. One of these topics had to do with his ‘Demon’ persona that he has become known for. During the interview, Balor revealed an interesting tidbit about the ‘Demon’ and what it was originally designed for.

Balor says that when he first told Karl Anderson about the character, Anderson told him that he would get laughed at:

“The first time I did that, I said to my best friend Karl Anderson that I’m going to do this thing. I explained to him what I was doing and he said, ‘do not do that, you’re going to be laughed out of the building”

Balor also says that the original plan for the character was to make fans hate him and have them be scared of him. As we know now, this didn’t happen and fans have come to love his persona:

“Obviously this didn’t happen. That the whole Demon character was designed for people to hate me more, and to be scared of me, and it kind of backfired in the sense that people kind of like it now. It’s still a learning process for me”

An interesting original concept for the character. Balor could have played a babyface character but would also have this dark side to him that people were afraid of. This didn’t end up happening and (a lot of) fans have grown to love when he puts the paint on.
