Former football player for the Georgia Institute of Technology Yellow Jackets where he played defensive tackle. He was a 3 year starter for Georgia tech and a team captain in his senior year. He went undrafted in the 2007 NFL Draft but was signed by both the Minnesota Vikings and the Jacksonville Jaguars but was released from both teams. He played one season in the Canadian Football League for the Edmonton Eskimos before retiring from professional football.

He was signed to a WWE developmental contract in 2010 and assigned to Florida Championship Wrestling. He made his debut as Roman Leakee. When FCW was turned into NXT, he was re-branded into Roman Reigns.

He made his debut on the main roster as a member of the SHIELD with Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose. The Shield became a fan favorite and is considered one of the best factions in WWE history by some fans.

With Seth Rollins he has won the WWE Tag Team Championship. He was the winner of the 2015 Royal Rumble. He has won the WWE Heavyweight Championship.
