Rumor Roundup: Backstage Concern In The Women’s Locker Room, Charlotte Flair Note, More

3) Backstage Note On WWE’s New Hiring

According to Sean Ross Sapp on Fightful Select (subscribe here), WWE passed on a few names from the recent WWE tryouts that many expected to be ‘slam dunk’ picks. This comes after rumors that WWE is now only interested in hiring bigger and younger talent.

Here is what Sapp wrote:

Canyon Ceman had plenty of heat within WWE and the Performance Center, but that’s also happened with nearly every person we’ve spoken with as it results to talent relations. However, when it became clear that Ceman was on his way out, there were a lot of concerns about what direction NXT’s hiring was going. There were also some names passed on at recent tryouts that people in NXT thought were going to be a slam dunk, that a couple of wrestlers claim were red flags.

My Take:

  • It will be interesting to see if any of these names come out publicly. I would be interested to see who they passed on.

2) Backstage Note On John Cena Helping With Ticket Sales

According to Dave Meltzer of F4Wonline, John Cena being advertised for an upcoming show in Estero, Florida led to a jump in ticket sales by 63%.

Here is what Meltzer wrote:

In kind of an amazing stat, 63 percent of the tickets for last night’s WWE show in Estero, FL were sold after the announcement of John Cena on the show. Thus far Cena’s name has led to anywhere from 18 to 63 percent new ticket sales, with Louisville, Milwaukee, Detroit and last night all having greater than 50 percent increases.

My Take:

  • Say what you want about Cena but he always delivers in terms of being a big time attraction for WWE.
