Rumor Roundup: Backstage Note On Asuka’s Status, Scrapped Plans For Summerslam, More

Here are some of the latest WWE rumors that are floating around.

5) Scrapped Plans For Summerslam (Part 1)

According to Mike Johnson of PWinsider, WWE originally had plans to get Mike Tyson to be the voiceover person for Summerslam. These plans were unsuccessful.

Here is what Johnson wrote:

WWE attempted to bring in WWE Celebrity Hall of Famer and all-time boxing great Mike Tyson to take part in this weekend’s Summerslam, PWInsider.com has confirmed.

WWE plans called for Tyson to be the voiceover artist for opening video package for Saturday’s Summerslam PPV, which we are told will be built around WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns vs. John Cena.

PWInsider.com is told that WWE’s attempts to lock in Tyson were unsuccessful.  There is no word yet who may be voicing over the opening for Summerslam in Tyson’s place.

My Take:

  • Tyson would have been good but this doesn’t seem like a big deal.

4) Scrapped Plans For Summerslam (Part 2)

According to Sean Ross Sapp on Fightful Select (subscribe here), Megan Thee Stallion was originally planned for a spot at Summerslam with Bianca Belair.

Here is what Sapp wrote:

Megan Thee Stallion was also planned for a spot involving Bianca Belair for Summerslam. However, WWE sources indicated they WWE thought it was a done deal, but were informed last weekend it wouldn’t be happening, which was still the case as of this morning.

My Take:

  • This would have been fun.
