Rumor Roundup: Backstage Update On Johnny Gargano, WWE Day 1 Plans, More

Here are some of the latest WWE rumors that are floating around.

5) Backstage Note On WWE Day 1 (Part 1)

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Nick Khan is behind the WWE Day 1 PPV. They are hoping to make the PPV a yearly tradition and it could become one of the biggest events of the year for the company.

Here is what Meltzer wrote:

WWE is putting a lot of effort into Day 1 and giving it a strong card because it’s the idea of Nick Khan, who hopes to permanently replace the mid/late December PPV with one in early January. The idea being WWE can get the holiday to itself, create a new tradition and potentially a sixth tentpole PPV event each year.

Usually the College Football Playoff is held on this weekend’s Saturday, however, this year it is running on Friday, Dec. 31, which opens a spot despite other bowl games taking place on Jan. 1.

My Take:

  • I will be happy to watch when I am hungover after New Year’s Eve. I think it is a good idea, especially with the college games being the day before.

4) Backstage Note On WWE Day 1 (Part 2)

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Roman Reigns vs Brock Lesnar will have a big finish, which sets up a Wrestlemania 38 rematch.

Here is what Meltzer wrote:

The plan is for Reigns-Lesnar to have a big finish that will make fans anticipate a WrestleMania rematch.

My Take:

  • Not sure how I feel about another Brock and Roman match. We will have to wait and see how their match at Day 1 goes.
