Rumor Roundup: Io Shirai’s Future, WWE Superstar Asks For Release, More

3) Lots of Changes Made To RAW This Week

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, there were a lot of late changes that WWE made to the RAW script this week.

Here is what Johnson wrote:

There were a lot of changes made to the Raw script over the course of the day.  We are told that the matches that were advertised remained the same, but the order and flow of the show was shifted around quite a bit in the hours before they went on the air.  The complete, final script wasn’t delivered until 6 PM EST, so until that point, everything was up in the air in terms of what happened when.

My Take:

  • RAW was good this week, so it seemed like the mad scramble worked.

2) Backstage Note On The Triple Threat Match From RAW

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer spoke about why WWE booked the triple threat match on RAW between Roman Reigns, Big E, and Bobby Lashley. Meltzer says that they did this match at weekend live events and word got back to Vince McMahon that it was really good.

Here is what Meltzer said:

“Obviously, the six-man tag was going to be the main event of the show, originally. What happened on the weekend shows in North Charleston and Augusta, they did a three-way between Roman Reigns, Bobby Lashley, and Big E, and Vince [McMahon] got the word that the matches were very good. So at noon the day of the show, he did an about-face and moved the six-man tag to basically set up this match as the main event, figuring this would be the strongest ratings possible by putting that match on television. That’s why it wasn’t advertised and that’s why it was a last-minute thing.”

My Take:

  • Makes sense. It turned out to be the right call because this was a really good match.
