Rumor Roundup: Original Royal Rumble Winner, Possible Wrestlemania 38 Match, More

3) Backstage Morale After The Royal Rumble PPV

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, the morale backstage among talent was down after the Royal Rumble PPV. This came after all of the last minute changes.

Here is what Johnson wrote:

The morale after the show was very down compared to most recent WWE PPVs because as one talent (who commented under condition of anonymity) stated, “We were all in a whirlwind.  Just as you had your role and spots down, everything started over and over and now most of us were back to square one.  It changed again and again and again.  It wasn’t an easy night even before we hit the ring.”

My Take:

  • I feel like it is hard to blame talent for being mad. I am sure that some of them had their spots taken by these last minute changes.

2) Original Royal Rumble Winner

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Matt Riddle was WWE’s original plan to win the Men’s Royal Rumble match. WWE also considered Randy Orton but plans changed for Brock Lesnar to win.

Here is what Johnson wrote:

The original plan for the Men’s Rumble winner was Riddle, PWInsider.com has learned.  Plans were changed over the course of the week a ton of times with the final decision to have Brock Lesnar enter and win as a surprise.  At one point, there was a pitch for Randy Orton to win as well, but Riddle was the frontrunner until the switch to Brock was made.

My Take:

  • Riddle winning would have been awesome.
