Rumor Roundup: The Plans For Ronda Rousey, Shane McMahon’s Match At Wrestlemania 38, More

3) Shane McMahon’s Original Match At Wrestlemania 38

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Shane McMahon was originally planned to face Seth Rollins at Wrestlemania 38. The Elimination Chamber would have set that feud up.

Here is what Meltzer said:

Shane McMahon was going to be in the Chamber and set up a feud with Seth Rollins for WrestleMania. I don’t know if that was going to be the (WWE) Championship match, but it’s obviously – whether it is or it isn’t – that was changed, so I don’t know how that relates to Shane McMahon at WrestleMania, but this was supposed to be the step to that.

My Take:

  • Shane vs Seth was a bad idea. Glad that it isn’t happening.

2) Backstage Heat On Shane McMahon

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, there is some backstage heat on Shane McMahon. This comes after he served as a main producer of the men’s Royal Rumble match.

Here is what Meltzer said:

“There was a lot of heat on Shane because Shane was one of the producers, in fact, he was kind of the head producer of the Rumble. He had an idea of what the Rumble was going to be and a lot of that ended up being changed and I don’t know all of everything but I do know there was several people who kind of made offhanded remarks to me about Shane…..

“For whatever reason, Vince has allowed him to help and do the Rumble the last couple of years but it was him and many other people, and this one it was as well but he really took charge and rubbed some people the wrong way, evidently…”

My Take:

  • Shane did end up eliminating Kevin Owens, which I wasn’t thrilled about.
