Here are some of the latest WWE rumors that are floating around.
5) WWE’s Long-Term Booking Plan For Roman Reigns
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE’s long-term plan is for Roman Reigns to be the top babyface in the company. He is currently a monster heel but WWE wants Roman to eventually become the top babyface.
Here is what the Meltzer said:
“Roman Reigns and Kenny Omega are essentially the same character in the sense that they are heels who are being groomed to be the top babyface star down the line of the promotion. AEW is at least trying to book in a way to make the matches exciting and WWE is trying to book Roman Reigns and tell you ‘eh it doesn’t matter, he’s gonna kill the guy.’
My Take:
- My guess is that they are going to try and build him up as a major anti-hero down the road. I hope they don’t mess with his character too much though as he is currently doing some incredible work as is.
4) Another Backstage Note On Roman Reigns’ Booking
WrestlingNews.co spoke more about WWE’s booking plans for Roman Reigns. They say that the company is building him up for an eventual match against The Rock.
Here is what the site wrote:
Also, we were told that the reason why Reigns is booked to dominate his feuds is because of the feeling that he needs to be booked like this for when he wrestles The Rock.
A WWE source told WrestlingNews.co: “Vince doesn’t want to portray Roman as a cowardly heel who gets his ass kicked 50 percent of the time. He’s the guy who will carry the company for the next few years and Vince sees him as his top priority. Protect Roman at all costs.”
My Take:
- This also makes sense. Protect Roman until he faces off against The Rock in one of the biggest matches in WWE history. Seems like the right thing to do. I am still not convinced though that The Rock is coming back but we will have to wait and see.
